The main objective of the SCIAMACHY Daily Reports is to provide a daily monitoring of the mission and of the operational data processing chains. The daily reports allow a quick detection of any anomaly in the instrument performance or data processing. The monitoring and reporting is made using the QUADAS tool which ingests the received products into long term databases and generates the html reports. The QUADAS quality monitoring for SCIAMACHY is implemented for all the level of production and includes content and consistency checks.
Level 0 data products contain telemetry data as received from the instrument. The level 0 monitoring provides a first check of the operational processing performance, allowing detection of anomalies in the acquisition and transmission of the instrument source packets. Furthermore it is important to check the instrument behavior, especially house keeping data like detector temperatures.
Level 1 data products are geolocated products not fully calibrated. The monitoring of Level 1 data consists in checking significant indicators to test the quality of the measured spectra and the correctness of the calibration processes.
Level 2 data products are final geolocated geophysical parameters. The monitoring of Level 2 data allows detecting anomalies in the retrieval processes.
SCIAMACHY Level 0 and Level 1 products are processed Near Real Time (NRT) at ESRIN and Kiruna sites by using available NRT auxiliary information. Level 1 and Level 2 consolidated products (generated about 2 weeks after sensing time) are processed off-line (OFL) at D-PAC using the most precise auxiliary data available.
With the activation of the SCIAMACHY Level 2 processor Version 5.01, the operational Fast Delivery data processing of Level 2 products started at D-PAC. With this new service ESA provides to the users within 24 hours from data acquisition the full SCIAMACHY Level 2 products based on Level 1b near real-time data and predicted instead of consolidated auxiliary files.
Daily reports are updated every night. However, it may occur that at that time not all SCIAMACHY products were available and gaps are present in the reports. This is automatically corrected with the generation of the daily report on the following night.
