Introduction
AMALFI (ASAR
MERIS AATSR Labelling Facility Inspection) is a system dedicated to
perform the operational quality control of the ENVISAT ASAR, MERIS and AATSR
products before they are delivered to the users. The scope of the system is to
systematically verify any ASAR, MERIS and AATSR products after they have been
written to the media required by the user and to provide a PASS/FAIL statement.
Products passing the quality control are delivered to the users, together with
an AMALFI information note printed in the inside page of the media booklet.
Products failing the AMALFI operational quality check are analysed in detailed
in the Product Control Facility (PCF) located at ESRIN and the customer is
notified by the ESA Earth Observation helpdesk.
AMALFI is installed and
operated at the following ESA facilities: LRAC,
PDHS-E, PDHS-K, D-PAC, E-PAC, I-PAC and UK-PAC. The system is used
pre-operationally since mid 2004 and it is fully in operations since early
2005.
This facility complements
the other operational ENVISAT PDS Quality Analysis facilities, providing a
final quality stamp to products delivered to the users.
It shall be stressed that currently AMALFI performs the Quality
Control (QC) of ASAR, MERIS and AATSR products provided on media and it does
not verify products distributed by different means (e.g. ftp, DDS).
The
scope of the Amalfi information note below is to inform users about the Quality Control performed
by AMALFI and to introduce the AMALFI information note printed in the inside
page of the media booklet, which is provided together with the media to the
user.
