Dragon 1 final results reporting
The 2008 Dragon symposium will serve
as the close of the first phase of the Dragon Programme (2004 to 2007). The
proceedings of the Dragon Programme final results (SP-655) will be distributed
on CD-ROM. On a project-by-project basis, the 16 project teams will undertake
the following:
- Outline the objectives of the
research
- Detail the ESA EO and third party
mission data acquired and investigated during the course of the Dragon
Programme
- Detail the in-situ data measurements
and requirements made and the joint field visits undertaken in P.R. China
- Report on the projects'
achievements, final results, conclusions and
recommendations
- Report on the young scientists
training
- Outline academic exchange programmes
developed
- Report on progresses for FP6 projects in atmosphere and ocean
science.
Poster session for young scientists
On the afternoon of the second
day, their will be a special "poster" session dedicated to research by young
scientists.
ESA and NRSCC request all of the young scientists to prepare a
poster paper to present their results and kindly ask them to provide the
following information to Mr. Tian Xin Email: Tianxin@caf.ac.cn by no later
than 14 March 2008.
- Title of the poster paper
- The title of the Dragon project under which the research has
been undertaken and the project identifier (this is four figure number, and
for each project the title and project identifiers are provided in the
project section of the 2007 Dragon programme brochure which is available
on-line: http://earth.esa.int/dragon/DRAGONbrochureProgramme2007.pdf
- Full author list of the poster paper
- Contact details of the main author including telephone number
and email address
Prizes will be awarded for the best
posters in land, ocean and atmospheric EO science The
award will be judged by Dragon lead investigators. Instructions on poster paper
formats are available on-line.
There will also be a welcome cocktail served at the poster session.
Dragon 2 projects' Kick
Off
The Symposium will also serve as the formal kick
off for Dragon 2 projects. EO data delivery will commence in May 2008 and last
for 4 years. The presentations will be made on the successful
projects from the Dragon 2 Announcement of Opportunity (AO). This AO
concerns the exploitation of ESA, Chinese and TPM EO data for science and
applications development in P.R. China. All of the project executive summaries
will be published in English and Chinese and will be distributed at the
Symposium. The Chinese and European lead investigators shall undertake the
following:
- Outline the team composition
including the full list of partners and institutions
- Provide the project
objectives
- Detail the ESA, Chinese and TPM data
to be investigated
- Inform on the project schedule and
planning
- Indicate the level and training of
young scientists on the project
- Detail the in-situ data measurements
and requirements
- Provide details on expected field
data collection campaigns and periods in P.R. China
- Inform on the expected
results.
Organisation
An overview of the week's programme is provided as
follows:
- 3 full
days for the Dragon 1 programme final results reporting from Monday 21 to
Wednesday 23 April 2008
- 2 days on
presentations on Dragon 2 projects from Thursday 24 to Friday 25 April
2008.
There will be a poster session for
young scientists to present their work on the afternoon of Tuesday 22 April 08.
There will be two social events hosted by ESA and NRSCC
respectively.
