The Advanced Training Course in Land Remote Sensing organized under the
ESA-NRSCC Dragon Programme took place from 10 to 15 October 2005 in Capital
Normal University, Beijing, P.R. China.
The training course was devoted to the exploitation of ESA EO data for
land applications over China. In particular, the course focussed on theory and
application of radar, optical and thermal remote sensing, with emphasis on ESA
ENVISAT and ERS data: (A)SAR, MERIS and (A)ATSR.

The ESA-NRSCC training course received some 167 students applications from
all over China and was finally attended by 103 selected participants from 50
institutions.
7 lecturers from 5 different European countries were invited to give
lectures for the course. SAR experts included Dr Thuy Le Toan (CESBIO,
France), Prof. Eric Pottier (University of Rennes, France), Prof. Fabio Rocca
