Workshop Held in Beijing for the "Dragon Project"

On October 20, 2003, the workshop for "The Dragon Project", a
joint project of the Cinese Ministry of Science and Technology
(MOST) and the European Space Agnecy (ESA), was held at
the China-Europe GNSS Technology Training and Cooperation Center of
the National Remote Sensing Center of China. Thirty-four experts
for participating organizations of ESA and China attended the
workshop. This workshop indicated that the cooperation between
MOST and ESA in the area of Earth observation has entered the
implementation phase. The two sides defined the cooperation
framework and named the joint project as "The Dragon Project". This
project covers twelve themes including agricultural applications,
flood monitoring, forestry mapping, crop monitroing, forest fires,
marine research, topographics measurement, air pollution
monitoring, ozone monitoring, ocean color research, and water
resources. The last five themes are the new areas proposed by
ESA.
