4.3.5. SWOT (Surface Water and Ocean Topography)
SWOT (Surface Water Ocean Topography) is envisioned for 2013-2016 in a joint project including Nasa and Cnes. It would combine the concepts of WaTER (Water and Terrestrial Elevation Recovery) and the Hydrosphere Mapper missions into a single one to address the objectives of both land hydrology and oceanography. The technology for Swot should be a Ka-band Radar INterferometer (KaRIN, 0.86 cm wavelength).
